We Love Teens!
We want all of our youth to know Jesus Christ and to find their ultimate joy and satisfaction in Him.
We have designed our Youth Ministry to deepen understanding of the greatness of our God, and to give encouragement in the pursuit of godliness.
Weekly Schedule for the school year
Sunday School - 9:00-10:00 Sunday Mornings
We have one group that meets on Sunday morning; 7th grade through 12th grade (upstairs youth room). All teenagers are welcome to join us! If you have any questions about how to find a room or anything else, just let us know!
Ignite & Crossfire - 7:00-9:00 Sunday Evenings
Ignite (7th-8th grade) and Crossfire (9th-12th grade) are currently combined. Typically these are two separate groups, but we are currently meeting together at 7PM on Sunday evenings. Below you can find the details to both Ignite and Crossfire when they are separate groups.
Ignite is our Sunday night program for 7th grade through 8th grade. Here teens will find relevant Bible lessons and discussion, godly and caring leaders, time to spend with friends, and over-the-top game time! Our goal at Ignite is that every teen begins to put together the foundation of their own faith in Jesus Christ, and that they would know they are loved dearly by their Creator.
Crossfire is our Sunday night program for 9th grade through 12th grade. Here teens will find meaningful conversation, exciting game time, and an environment where all are encouraged to grow closer to Jesus Christ and to each other as fellow brothers and sisters. Our goal in Crossfire is to create a safe space for discussion. Life is hard, and often filled with more grays than blacks and whites! Crossfire is designed to teach, equip, and challenge teenagers to live out a life style worthy of the calling of Jesus Christ, and to think deeper about life and God.
Hangout Night - 7:30-9:00 Wednesday Evenings
Almost every second and fourth Wednesday of the month we have a night to spend time with one another for ages 7th grade to 12th grade. Hangout Night is a high-energy event where we simply have fun. Each Hangout Night has one "main event". For more information find our most recent Youth Ministry calendar!
Throughout the year we schedule a lot of exciting, fun, and unique events with the purpose of providing a time and place for teenagers to play, grow, and serve. Some examples include camp retreats, concerts, bowling nights, youth conferences, Twins games, and much more!
Youth Ministry in the summer
Summers are typically quite busy for teenagers. Many put more hours into work, go to camps, and head out on family vacations. But we still desire to keep connected with all our teenagers. Below are the ways in which we encourage our teenagers to stay involved and continue to grow! Click here to check out our most recent summer calendar!
Summer Fire is our summer youth program that happens every other week. The location and time rotates, and sometimes even splits men and women! Our goal is to keep it outside, have a s'more or two, worship Jesus with one another, and to spend time with one another. Stay tuned for a Summer Youth Ministry calendar to learn the exact dates, locations, and times!
Youth Missions trip
Every year we send a Youth Missions team on a trip to help support domestic and international ministries. If you have any questions about Youth Missions Trips and how to participate in one, please contact our Youth Pastor, Jonathan Finke.
First Baptist Church Long Prairie partners together with Camp Lebanon, a Bible camp located on lovely Cedar Lake near Upsala, MN. We are dedicated to sending as many people to Camp Lebanon as possible, because we have seen how it can be "A Meeting Place with God" for so many people. Camp Lebanon is a great place for your teenagers to go and camp for a week. It is also a great place to work! If you have any questions about how to send your teenagers to Camp Lebanon, please contact our Youth Pastor, Jonathan Finke. If you have any questions about Camp Lebanon itself, feel free to visit their website by clicking here.
Safety & Volunteers
Safety is of upmost importance to the Youth Ministry of First Baptist Church. We have all heard the horror stories of youth events gone bad. We provide safe, engaging environments. All our adult volunteers have gone through background checks to help protect your teenagers. All our volunteers also participate in monthly meetings to refocus, and occasional training sessions to learn how to be the best leaders we can.
Our desire is to be a ministry whose parents are as involved as possible! If you are interested in joining our ministry, please contact our Youth Pastor, Jonathan Finke.
